We hired build, smart Masonry and Roofing to repair our foundation recently. Cracks were visible in the foundation and in the brick veneer. A test pit dug in one day and analysis of soil samples was conducted by engineers Peter, explained what needed to be done and how long it would take. He took care of everything including dealing with the city for permits and with the consulting engineers regarding the needed repair. He also suggested how to proceed to get a large tree on my front lawn removed. This was a major project that required the excavation down to the footings across the entire front of the house, partway down the sides and inside the garage. It was gratifying to work with a group of knowledge workers. Everyone on the team knew their role every step of the way and helped move things along. There was no idle time with obvious collaboration among the workers. All our neighbours came by to comment how good these workers were, how clean their work was, how they were attentive to minimize disruption in the neighborhood. Communication from Peter and the crew about current status and what to expect next was excellent from beginning to end. The work was planned as a two-week project that was delivered on time and on budget. He told me he was going to contact me prior to the start date and did so a couple a days before to confirm the timeline. He cut out a door opening for our sliding door, did the framework and did the brick masonry around the door with our brick that he removed. Build, smart Masonry & Roofing just waterproofed our house yesterday. Peter came by a couple of weeks ago to take a look at our job and it was obvious that he knew what he was talking about. He discussed all of the possible scenarios and options based on his knowledge and experience working on other properties in the neighborhood. He was flexible and willing to listen to our needs and desires and respected our opinion. He pointed out the pros and cons of each option and quoted us for two different scenarios depending on what his crew found when they dug down. We had a retaining wall and fence post that might be in the way and we really wanted them to try and limit the disruption in that area. He made no promises and I did as much as I could to clear their path by removing my deck and fortunately they were able to navigate the fence post and retaining wall without just bulldozing their way through which would have been the path of least resistance for them. Our project was also complicated by the fact that our neighbor has a renovation ongoing and it just so happened that they were having their HVAC installed on the same day Peter crew was flexible and successfully communicated with the neighboring crew and they both got their respective jobs done. Most impressively when game day arrived they brought in 12 guys and completed they job which was about 240 linear feet in 3 days Done and dusted!
